Course description

The course aims at introducing students to the general principles of teaching methodology and teaching methods, the theoretical training of students in the structure of the kindergarten program, in teaching methods, in the organization of space and time in kindergarten. The course discusses general principles of teaching methodology and teaching methods according to which the kindergarten teacher organizes the activities and achieves the goals of "teaching" and learning, helping the preschool teacher to organize the activities in kindergarten, taking into consideration children’s age, interests, capacities, knowledge.

Learning outcomes 

During the course students are expected to:

  • understand curriculum's subject and the structure and its participation in the context of Early Childhood Education
  • clarify preschool teacher's role in kindergarten
  • comprehend the basic principles and the role of Didactic Methodology for the organization and the design of kindergarten's activities
  • appreciate the importance of organizing the ideal learning environment in Early Childhood Education
  • understand the importance of teaching methods and techniques for the organization of kindergarten activities

Assessment

Course assessment involves a) written exams at the end of the semester b) students group assignments.

Teaching methods

Lectures, conversation, introduction to theoretical knowledge based on bibliography, laboratory exercises.
