Course description

The course focuses on the use of oral history in relation to contemporary approaches of historical education. It aims to highlight the possibilities of utilizing oral history in the context of pre-school and primary school education. For this purpose, the connection of the terms of oral history is made mainly through examples of the use of oral testimonies in relation to various topics (personal memories and family history, testimonies in relation to the socio-cultural environment of preschool students) since they were considered to be the most appropriate topics to enable students to realize that the oral story addresses issues related to their concerns and the concerns of their pupils. The teaching was chosen to be conducting by using examples of oral history. This particular approach also helps students to extend, among other things, in a substantial but also concise way to the basic concepts related to oral history, such as the concepts of material and intangible testimony, the concepts of memory and history, bio-history and of life histories etc. At the same time, students have the opportunity through individual work to compare horizontally and vertically concepts such as immigration /refugee, traumatic experiences, customs and traditions lost in time, professions, the multiple subjectivities of people in time and space, etc. as well as issues related to how preschool children approach oral history.
