Educational Linguistic Material in Early Childhood Education

Course description

The aim of the course is to familiarize students with the design, development and assessment of educational material for the language subject in the context pf preschool education. The goals of the course are the following: a) to help students understand the various parameters that affect the design of educational material, b) to help students assess the existing educational material for the teaching of language as a mother tongue and as a second/foreign language, c) to make students familiar with developing activities and educational scenarios for the language subject in the preschool education. The research findings, principles and parameters of designing and assessing educational material, such as the ideological options, the images, the typography, the color, are discussed and analyzed. Moreover, models of assessing educational material for the teaching of language as a mother tongue and as a second/foreign language are presented, while existing educational material is assessed. Simultaneously, the most recent Curricula for the language subject in the preschool education are discussed, while interdisciplinary activities and educational scenarios are designed by students.
