Course description

The course examines and analyzes basic concepts and terms of Educational Technologies and theories of pedagogical science in general that frame the integration of innovative tools in the learning process. The aim is to combine modern learning theories and practices with ICT, Educational Robotics and Visual Programming practices and to highlight the continuity and evolution of pedagogical thinking and learning design.

Learning outcomes

Upon successful completion of the course students will be able to:

  • Know the characteristics of modern tools in the field of Educational Robotics, Programming and the Makers' Movement.
  • Recognize the Affordances of Educational Robotics tools
  • Recognize the characteristics of modern educational approaches based on learning theories and current priorities in education.
  • Apply modern educational approaches to the organization of learning experiences and the design of educational scenarios.
  • Design and implement an appropriate educational scenario based on Educational robotics and visual programming tools.
  • Deploy the acquired knowledge so that they can apply it in new authentic contexts.

Assessment

Each student will have to prepare a short essay based on the design of four complete teaching scenarios. The students will have to focus on the deployment of the proposed Educational robotics tools in order to serve potential learning objectives in a preschool education context. Successful presentation of the essay is vaild 70% of the final grade of the course. The remaining 30% is covered by successful participation in a written final exam that includes multiple choice questions and / or short answers and comparative evaluation of theoretical data

Lectures, Laboratory type collaborative activities with Educational Robotics tools(Lego WeDo, Scratch 3.0, ScratchJr, BeeBot, etc.)
