Curriculum Vitae: 

Maria Tsouvala graduated from the Faculty of Physical Education and Sport of the Athens University and the Professional School of Dance “Rallou Manu”. She received Master of Arts (1983) and Master of Education (1988) from Teachers College, Department of Movement Sciences and Education, Columbia University and PhD from the Department of Philosophy- Pedagogy-Psychology, University of Athens (2006). Since 1990 to 2013, she taught improvisation - choreography, dance history and pedagogy with emphasis on dance studies at vocational dance schools in Athens. Her research interests include the history of dance, the phenomenology of dance and the critical pedagogical theories. She has published articles in scientific journals and art magazines. Besides, she created choreographic works for the contemporary dance group “Meta-kinesis”, all subsidized by the Ministry of Culture, the Athens Concert Hall, the International Dance Festival of Kalamata and other agencies.
